Tonight, I joined my friend at an event in a warehouse. I should note that I do not skateboard, and rarely hang out in abandoned warehouses - I was there to support her husband’s band.
After borrowing $10 from her so I could pay the bouncer, I settled in with 2 Coors Lights (one for each hand) and prepared to take in the music. Just as I was wrapping up my thrilling story about my trip to the new Ikea, the next act hit the stage....lookin just like an Adult version of JeanBenet Ramsey.
The first song was about getting in and out of trucks (perhaps this is difficult for AJB to do with all the texas-style fringe), mixed with A LOT of thrusting and high-kicking. And, the second song was overshadowed by my shock and awe over the camouflaged war rifle being used as a guitar.
Then, AJB had a short monologue, during which she told us that “music was like giving the crowd a warm hug”. To finish, the band launched into a brief but aggressive love ballad about beavers.
AJB will forever be engrained in my head, as well as her creative use of pink fringe. When I tried to glue pink fringe to a lamp shade in 2005 it just wasn't appropriate. So, cheers my fringe-filled friend, AJB!.
